Forget about the review, watch the trailer here and save five minutes of your life by doing something else. If you like the trailer, you'll like the movie and vice versa. Personally I thought it was uninspired, derivative toss, but lots of people seem to be enjoying it so maybe I'm just in a bad mood. Actually I am, so I'm going to go away and watch it again when I'm feeling a bit fluffier so I can be more objective.

Zoiks! Matthew Lillard in the jungle with no Scooby snacks! I'm back. That's better. I nearly enjoyed it that time. It really helped knowing that it was just a bit of daft fun rather than a proper story, so that's what you need to know. It's a cross between The Goonies and Dude, Where's My Car? but is not as funny as either. Three thirty year old ex-schoolfriends hook up after their mutual friend dies and decide to go on the treasure hunt that they'd always planned to do as kids. That's the most sensible thing that happens, the rest is just adolescent nonsense, but I suppose it could be quite fun if you're in the right frame of mind. The boys go out into the jungle, canoe down rapids, get attacked by a bear, hillbillies try and kill them - all with, erm, hilarious consequences. Well, not so much hilarious, more ... erm ... feeble. The funniest part is on the trailer - the boys deciding whether to huddle up for warmth while R Kelly sings, "my mind's telling me no, but my body's telling me yes." Some of the dialogue is quite amusing too, but only in a mildly chuckly kind of way - and some of it is desperately unoriginal. "I don't need to outrun the bear - I just need to outrun you!" Hands up who's never heard that one before.

It's da Bandit! At least it was da Bandit some time ago. Matthew Lillard and Seth Green were in Scooby Doo 2 together and do as is expected of them, but Dax Shepard was a new one on me - apparently he features with Ashton Kutcher in MTV's Punk'd TV series. He fits in well here, and adds a degree of sarcastic freshness to an otherwise dull cast that unwisely includes Burt Reynolds. It certainly needs something as I was repeatedly reminded of a film school's graduation project rather than a professional piece of film-making. In fact I was so uninspired that I'm going to stop writing now. Go and watch the trailer, really, it'll do more to help you form an opinion than any amount of critical drivel that I can come up with.

I enjoyed this film: 2/5

I think the average moviegoer will enjoy it: 3/5

Testosterone Satisfaction Rating: 1/5 Very tame, the boys are showed stoned and say "dude" a lot.

To enjoy this film you should: be in a group of light-hearted people, and in a good mood.
