The basic premise in this mess is that Matthew McConaughey is an ex-American footballer who has magically predicted the
last year's football results with an 80% success rate, thanks to his intimate knowledge of the sport. Casting stupid axiom
number 1 aside for now, we're also supposed to believe that he chooses not to bet on his picks himself, because he "lost
everything" once before, so he doesn't bet. What kind of monkey spunk is that? I'm not swallowing that (if you'll excuse
the rather repulsive metaphor). That kind of limp garbage might work in an episode of Smallville (which is the kind of
tepid stuff director DJ Caruso has worked on in the past), but it simply doesn't cut it on the big screen. When sports
betting mogul Al Pacino recruits McConaughey for his sports advisory service, it only serves to underline the scam that
these real-life "services" are, rather than creating a realistic plot scenario. And, unbelievably, it doesn't get better.
Al Pacino, however, is always watchable and he doesn't break the trend here. Were it not for his presence, Two for the Money
would have exactly nothing going for it - McConaughey himself, who you may have seen before in
